Important milestone reached: Topping-out ceremony for the new child protection shelter in Essen

On Tuesday, 3 February, the Child Protection Association Essen celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new child protection shelter in Essen. This marked an important milestone in the project, which will offer a home to children who are temporarily unable to live with their families and need special support from autumn onwards. 14 children from all over Germany can be accommodated in the shelter. With a trauma pedagogical care concept, committed professionals and a lot of heart, the house is intended to offer the children security, stability and new perspectives. Hans-Peter Noll, chairman of the Child Protection Association, formulated: “It is a house of love, for children who need this love.”

The project is financed entirely by own funds and donations. The shelter, which expands the two existing shelters in Essen, is under the patronage of Mayor Thomas Kufen.

The Krupp Foundation supports the new construction project by covering the construction costs as well as the initial equipment for a complete children’s room, as well as a four-year patronage for the child who will then be housed there.

Since its establishment, the Krupp Foundation has been committed to supporting children and young people, because it is precisely the starting conditions that are important and shape their further development. In close cooperation with the Child Protection Association in Essen, the Krupp Foundation has already realised many projects.
