Krupp Foundation awards 35 scholarships for work placements abroad to pupils in Essen and prolongs the programme for three years

From today, 24 August, pupils in Essen in Years 9, 11 and 12 can apply for the ‘Alfried Krupp Student Scholarships for Internships Abroad’. The internship abroad will take place from 15 March to 9 April 2027 and is granted with 1,600 euros. The application period ends on 28 September 2026.

Since 1997, the Krupp Foundation has been funding internships abroad for pupils in Essen every year, and more than 1,200 young people have already taken advantage of this opportunity. In addition to the four-week internship, comprehensive coaching is a key component of the educational programme: before the internship, they complete a course in business English as well as an intercultural seminar on the topic of ‘Business Behaviour Abroad’. Upon their return, they take part in job application training.

Due to its relevance, this long-standing funding programme has been extended for a further three years by the Board of Trustees of the Krupp Foundation. It is organised in cooperation with the Association for the Promotion of Cooperation between Schools and Industry (Verein zur Förderung der Zusammenarbeit von Schulen und Wirtschaft Essen e.V.) and is coordinated by the Essen Economic Development Agency ( EWG – Essener Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH). A new round of applications is announced each year at the start of the school year.
