Scholarship program “Museum Curators for Photography” of the Krupp Foundation announced again

The Krupp Foundation in cooperation with the Photographic Collection of the Museum Folkwang in Essen, the Photography Collection at the Munich City Museum, the Fotomuseum Winterthur, the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, the Centre Georges-Pompidou in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is awarding three scholarships for future museum curators in the field of photography. The programme is aimed at university graduates, preferably from disciplines in the arts and cultural studies, who wish to pursue a career in the museum and exhibition sector The purpose of the programme is to combine practical museum experience with academic training and international exchange. From today, 26 October, applications are open for a two-year scholarship starting in May 2027. The deadline for applications is 11 January 2027.

During the course of the scholarship programme, the scholarship holders have the opportunity to receive museum-specific training for six months at each of the three museums in Germany and Switzerland, as well as at one of the three institutions abroad, and to collaborate on at least one exhibition project or research project relating to photography. The programme also includes the independent organisation and staging of a symposium on specific questions relating to photography.

The Krupp Foundation launched the “Museum Curators for Photography” scholarship program in 1999. Every two years, three scholarship holders receive two years of museum-specific training and the opportunity to get to know the museum and academic environment of the field of photography. With this program, the foundation aims to sustainably promote the next generation of curators in the field of photography and give new impetus to the training of museum curators.
