The Krupp Foundation has opened applications for the 2027 Alfried Krupp Prize, which is endowed with €1.1 million
The Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation is once again awarding the Alfried Krupp Prize. The prize supports young scientists in natural sciences and engineering, including medicine, who have excellent scientific qualifications, outstanding research achievements and hold their first professorship at a German university. Candidates should be no older than 38. The prize is endowed with €1.1 million and includes a lump sum of €150.000 to cover indirect costs (overhead) at the laureate’s university.
Since 1986, the Krupp Foundation has awarded the Alfried Krupp Prize annually. It is one of the most generously endowed prizes for young scientists in Germany and has so far been awarded to 46 outstanding scientists. In 2026, it celebrated its 40th anniversary. The award grants the recipients freedom in research and teaching.
Nominations for candidates may be submitted by individuals, universities and research institutions via the Foundation’s online application portal. Self-nominations are not permitted. The deadline for applications is Friday, 26 February 2027.
