News A romantic addition to the Krupp Historical Archive: Gustav and Bertha Krupp’s wedding bible returns
An open Bible lies on a table. The first page reads: ‘In blessed use and in memory of the day of your wedding on 15 October 1906, the priest from Werden a.d. Ruhr gave this Bible book to Gustav Georg Friedrich Maria Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach and Bertha Krupp.’

A romantic addition to the Krupp Historical Archive: Gustav and Bertha Krupp’s wedding bible returns

The Krupp Historical Archive, one of the most important business archives in Germany, preserves objects that tell the story of the Krupp family of industrialists and their company. The collection is constantly growing, for example through private donations. This was recently the case with the wedding Bible of Gustav and Bertha Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach, which was donated to the archive by Krupp expert Jürgen Borkhoff. The Bible is a rarity and can now be viewed in the ‘treasure chamber’ (“Schatzkammer“) on the 1st floor of the Krupp Historical Exhibition. After having been on display the bible will be permanently stored in a climate-stable storage room and remain available for research and interested parties to view.
