Ruhrtriennale 2026: Krupp Foundation supports international Festival Campus
The Ruhrtriennale 2026, which begins today, 20 August, brings together 119 events across eleven host cities, featuring 600 artists from 45 countries. Until 20 September 2026, former industrial sites in Bochum, Dortmund, Duisburg, Gladbeck and Essen will be transformed into venues for art, culture and exchange. Visitors can look forward to a diverse programme featuring theatre, dance, concerts, exhibitions, performances and talks.
Part of the festival is the Ruhrtriennale’s international Festival Campus, which has been running since 2012. This year, the international exchange programme for students, teachers and cultural practitioners from across Europe is being funded by the Krupp Foundation. Participants will be able to take part in a four-day stay as part of the festival, dedicated to international networking, artistic exchange and collaborative learning.
This year, the Festival Campus is focusing on the theme ‘Communication(s) about Art’. Participants from various artistic disciplines will explore how art is discussed today and how it can be communicated to different audiences. Through workshops, discussions and collaborative sessions, they will develop new formats, reflect on existing approaches and test their impact. In addition, participants will attend events at the festival.
The Ruhrtriennale’s Festival Campus is one of the largest programmes of its kind in the world. It is based on the conviction that artistic experiences are deepened through a lively, critical and interdisciplinary discourse. Accordingly, the Campus brings together established artists and emerging talents, as well as different genres, perspectives and cultural influences. Practical experimentation and theoretical reflection are directly intertwined.
