The Krupp Foundation continues its programme ‘Berthold Beitz Student Trips to Berlin’ for a further three years
Following the positive feedback from students and teachers, the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, together with the City of Essen and in cooperation with the Jewish Museum Berlin, is prolonging the programme ‘Berthold Beitz Student Trips to Berlin’ for a further three years.
The programme, which the Foundation has so far funded with €300,000, enables ten school classes from Essen to travel to Berlin each year, visiting, among other places, the Jewish Museum Berlin and other sites of remembrance. Since the programme began in 2023, 52 schools in Essen across all types of education, with classes from Years 8 to 13, have applied, of which 30 were selected by lottery to go on a trip to Berlin. The trip aims to give young people an understanding of German-Jewish history at historical sites and to raise their awareness of democratic values and social responsibility.
From 26 September, the birthday of the foundation’s long-standing chairman Berthold Beitz, school classes in Essen can apply again. The deadline for applications is 19 March 2027. The funding covers travel to and from Berlin, up to three nights’ accommodation with meals, and admission fees as well as guided tours at the selected museums and memorial sites.
