The Krupp Foundation is supporting 48 projects as part of the funding programme ‘ImPulsRuhr’

The Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation has received an enormous response to its ‘ImPulsRuhr’ funding programme, launched in 2025. The programme is funded with €1.5 million and, across two rounds of applications, is targeting non-profit organisations with the aim of strengthening transformation in the region. Out of 300 applications received in the first round, the Foundation has now approved 48 projects from 19 cities in the Ruhr region. In total, the Foundation is committing around €819,000 to the projects from the first call for proposals.

“The range of topics covered by the submitted applications is diverse. It ranges from promoting social participation and social cohesion, through cultural exchange, art and cultural education, to sport and health promotion. This gives us a good overview of the region’s needs and enables us to respond to them in a targeted manner through the programme,” said Dr Michaela Muylkens, member of the Executive Board of the Krupp Foundation.

The second round of applications for ImPulsRuhr has already begun. Applications can be submitted online only until 18 September 2026. Eligible applicants include non-profit organisations and associations, as well as local authorities and public institutions based in the Ruhr region (Regional Association Ruhr). Funding is available for projects that address specific needs for change and aim to shape the future.  The only requirement is that the project ideas are new, have not yet begun, and relate to one of the foundation’s five funding areas (science, education, art and culture, health and sports).
